MSHA Part 46 and 48b regulations require that new miners complete a minimum of 24 hours of training within their first 90 days of employment. Eight hours of which must be completed prior to beginning work at the mine. The new miner training offers eight hours of training that was created to meet the training subject requirements in 30 CFR 46.5 and 48b plus an additional 16 hours of task specific supplemental training.  Upon completion of the course the miner will receive a 5000-23 certificate.  Training is provided by an experienced blue card holder. This is everything you need to get you on the job safely whether you are a surface miner or surface miner contractor.  The training is eligible for Construction Industry Training Funds from the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT).  Payment is to be made to Hawkeye Community College and then you will be reimbursed from the IDOT.  Do not forget to request the funds prior to the class.  Lunch is included
